What do I need to start a vacuum pump repair business? (have money and a mechanic already)?
just thought I’d put it out there…. say I know nothing about starting a business, but I have cash and one heck of a mechanic….. what next?
First, do a little research to determine if that kind of business is going to make any money. Would you be the only one in the area, or one of many that all have to split the same customers? Are there any customers?
If it is financially feasible, make a business plan. Put on paper what your business goals are, how you will market your business, projected income statements, etc. There are commercially available software programs that can help you, or people and businesses that specialize in helping write a good business plan. Do not skip a business plan just because someone may tell you you only need it to get a bank loan. Many good business ideas fail because the plan is not in writing and they lose track of what they were trying to do.
If you are in an area where you can work out of your home, you can save a lot of money. If not, a commercial real estate agent or broker can help you find an area that meets your needs with regards to customer traffic, rent price, and anything else your business may need access to.
